HOW DO YOU GET AN UBER LIGHT FOR THE FRONT DASH OF YOUR CAR LICENSE
Kind of like not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign or a license plate bracket in some places. If you get one in a bad mood, looking for a reason to pull you over or one who is just a sticker for the low hanging fruit, you're sunk. It is illegal but is one of those things that most cops can't be bothered with.

I see tons of drivers all the time riding around with blue here, too. It's an extremely shitty thing to do, but at least there are warnings on the listing from others who have been burned. It would explain why these Amazon listings only have blue available and people complain about DOA units (old, cheap capacitors that have going bad). Instead of eating the cost of the mistake, they still sell them to ignorant Uber drivers to get rid of this old stock. Like someone in China designing/making these were ignorant of blue and red being restricted colors, produced a ton and then were stuck with them. I'm thinking these blue signs that keep popping up on Amazon are an older stock that were never popular or bought years ago because of the illegality of them in most states. You used to be able to get this sign in like half a dozen different colors you still can get these other colors if you order direct from China, where they are made, though will wait a few weeks for shipping. After this, a bunch of platforms (Amazon, Etsy, eBay) in the US stopped selling these lights. My theory is this: I got mine (white) literally years ago before that girl in SC was murdered by the fake Uber driver. I just went on the Amazon listing for one of these and there are warnings in the product description about local laws and a ton of people in the reviews mention the illegality or receiving dead units.

TL DR Got pulled over and ticketed for using a blue Uber beacon light and the cop told me blue color lights is reserved for them only. I probably see 20-30 cars per night with the same blue Uber beacon and yet this is the first time I hear it's illegal.ĭid it ever happen to anyone else in here? If you got the blue light version, I also suggest keeping the light turned off and get a different color one. I just told him it came like that and he didn't seem to care and just made us wait for about 10-15 minutes and then gave me a citation for an equipment violation as blue should only be used by police officers. Started asking me why I had my beacon with "blue" light on it like I did this on purpose. I decided to take on some rides tonight with my other vehicle and I had a spare USB port there so I plugged in the beacon.ĭrove for a few hours, went through airport, beach, and passed quite a bit of police officer since they're everywhere right now, and then out of nowhere, this cop pulls me over. Last week, a lady hit me running a red light and now my car is most likely totalled.
I've owned this beacon for a while but was not using it cause I didn't have a regular USB available in my Model Y. All this while having pax in the car with me. So I got pulled over tonight and was given an equipment violation for having the Uber beacon light on with the color blue.
